3 Things to do at The Needles
Enjoy the view from the chair lift
Needles chairlift, Isle of Wight
There’s plenty to see and do for the whole family at The Needles. The chair lift offers an exhilarating ride down to the beach and great views of The Needles in the distance. For many families, a trip to The Needles wouldn’t be complete without making sand sculptures from the multi-coloured sand taken from the cliffs at Alum Bay. There’s also traditional fairground rides and crazy golf, and the chance to see glass blowing and of course make a purchase afterwards.
Take the boat
Boat trip round the Needles
For a close up view of the Needles rocks and Lighthouse with its helipad on top, head down to the jetty at the bottom of the cliff, and take one of the boat trips for a dramatic trip around the rocks and views of Alum Bay sand cliffs.
Visit the Needles Battery
The Needles Battery
The Needles Lighthouse
is a National Trust site which offers history, views and windswept walking. Originally built in Victorian times to help ward off the threat of a French invasion, the Battery was also used during both World Wars. The new battery is also worth a visit, surprisingly, it was used in the 1950s for rocket engine testing for the space race.
