3 things to do in Sandown

Sand, sea and hopefully sun

Boat at Yaverland, Sandown, Isle of Wight

Boat at Yaverland, Sandown

One of the best things about the Isle of Wight is its beaches, and Sandown’s is one of the best. Head for the beach near Sandown Pier to enjoy all the traditional British seaside activities. For a more natural beach experience, head towards the white cliffs near Yaverland where there’s plenty to explore or just sit and enjoy the view. For the more energetic, Yaverland is the centre for watersports activities, whether it’s sailing, windsurfing or jetskiing that you’re looking for, it all happens down this end of the beach.

A relaxing drink with a sea view

There’s nothing quite like sitting watching the sea on a sunny day to make you wind down and enjoy your holiday. Why not relax at one of the many cafes and bars which overlook the sea in Sandown. For a bar on the beach, visit The Driftwood Beach Bar, for breakfast, coffee and cakes or a delicious light meal, try The Beach CafĂ© Sandown. Also open throughout the day is The Reef where you can enjoy the relaxing ambience, sit outside or in, either way the view is fantastic, and there is a great choice of food, ranging from sandwiches to pizza, pasta or burgers, fresh fish or steak.
