The Isle of Wight Zoo was built within the ruins of a Victorian Fort built to guard Sandown’s coast, so it’s situated opposite one of the Isle of Wight’s nicest beaches. The zoo is the place to go on the Island if you love big cats. It specialises in the conservation of tigers, lions and Madagascan animals, especially lemurs. Many of the animals couldn’t survive on their own in the wild and so are taken care of at the zoo. And where else would you expect to find a white lion and white tiger but the Isle of Wight!
