History, sea views and walking in Yarmouth

Yarmouth castle and pier, Isle of Wight

Yarmouth castle and pier

The historic port town of Yarmouth sits at the mouth of the River Yar and contains some of the oldest architecture on the Isle of Wight, including a 16th Century castle. There are lovely sea views to be had as you walk along the wooden pier and watch the boats and ferries coming and going, stop for a coffee at the George Hotel or Gossips Café and take in the bustling atmosphere. For a more peaceful experience, you can walk or cycle from the harbour around the Yar estuary and see plenty of local wildlife.
